Will4Adventure is a provider of Immediate Temporary Care (ITC) first aid training offering a selection of excellent hands-on first aid courses that will take you from the office to the wilderness. In addition our courses:

If you have a group of six or more staff to train, then our in-house option may the most cost-effective option for you. We can deliver any one of our portfolio of courses – right on your own premises. For some locations we may need to add a small fee for travel and accommodation expenses.
Scottish Qualification Authority Accreditation
ITC Providers deliver the ONLY Outdoor First Aid qualification that is externally regulated by national qualification regulators and meets the standards to appear on a national qualifications register. In turn our courses are recognised as being suitable for BASI ski leaders/instructors and for members of the BCU. Note: these courses are valid throughout the UK.
HSE Due Diligence questions
Since 1st October 2013, the HSE has stopped issuing ‘training numbers’, to first aid training companies. This now means that the business or individual which contracts a First Aid Training Company is required to carry out due diligence on that Training Provider.
Although the HSE cannot advise you on this, it has published a list of questions that you should be asking of the provider – Selecting a first-aid training provider.
To save time, we have the questions here, along with our answers! Will4Adventure meets these HSE requirements for all of our First Aid training courses. Additionally the HSE now states that if a business requires specialist first aid training they can take an appropriate course such as an Outdoor First Aid course instead of the First Aid at Work course.

|Do the trainers/assessors have a current FAW certificate?||Yes, all our Trainers have current FAW certificates. These are updated every 3 years.|
|Do the trainers/assessors have an appropriate
|Yes, all Trainers have a minimum of a PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the lifelong Learning Sector) qualification. Although many like our Director have full teacher status.|
|Is there a documented quality assurance plan designating an individual to take responsibility for quality assurance, including assessment of the performance of trainers/assessors at least annually?||Yes, there is a QA plan. All our trainers are required to be assessed running first aid courses and verified as competent assessors. This is a requirement of both the HSE and Awarding Organisations.|
|Does the designated person have a current FAW certificate?||Yes, William Legon is the designated person and he holds a current FAW Certificate.|
|Does the designated person have an assessing/verifying qualification?||Yes, William Legon holds full teacher status and is also a qualified assessor and for many years a member of the Institute of Outdoor learning.|
|Is there a documented course evaluation procedure?||Yes, all course candidates are asked to provide feedback on evaluation forms towards the end of all courses.|
|Is there a documented complaints procedure?||Yes, within the Quality Plan there is a defined complaints procedure.|
|Teaching currently accepted first-aid practice|
|Is FAW/EFAW taught in accordance with current guidelines on adult basic life support published by the Resuscitation Council (UK), and for other aspects of first aid, in accordance with current guidelines published by the Voluntary Aid Societies?||Yes, the syllabus is taken from the relevant guidelines of UK Resuscitation Council & VAC’s. Candidate numbers are limited to 12 per course unless additional trainers are used.
Candidates of all abilities are welcome and adjustments made where necessary – although at assessment time, all candidates, regardless of ability or disability are required to reach the appropriate standard to pass.

Funding for courses for MoD personnel
Standard Learning Credits (SLC)
Every member of the services is entitled to £175 per year to put towards the cost of personal development courses including outdoor first aid courses. All of our outdoor first aid courses qualify for this funding support for MOD staff members. Our outdoor first aid training courses lead to civilian-recognised qualifications.
Entitled service personnel are eligible to claim 80% of fees, up to a maximum of £175 per year, towards the cost of personal development courses. SLC and IRTC can be used together for resettlement courses in accordance with the DIN.

Everyone in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines has the opportunity to study for extra qualifications regardless of their rank. Generous levels of financial support are available for external training, whether directly relevant to the Royal Navy or not, all Naval personnel can claim up to £175 per year, for all kinds of training courses.

The Standard Learning Credit (SLC) Scheme allows personnel to obtain financial assistance for learning costs. You are able to claim 80% of your course fees up to a maximum of £175 per Financial Year.
To qualify for SLC funding, the course of study must lead to a nationally recognised qualification, have substantial developmental value and directly benefit the Service.
