from Shalini, Cindy and myself for that fantastic, if somewhat daunting,

Bit of background first
These weekends are absolutely obligation free, and our
time will cost you nothing. Maybe you have thought about
doing something adventurous in the future but would like to test the
waters closer to home - this is a great way to do so. So for the price
of a tank of petrol, and a couple of nights stay (in the middle of nowhere)
why not contact us for further details of
one of the adventures outlined below.
Each weekend starts at the location Friday night with the main event
on the Saturday. The Sunday is planned as a shorter day and very much
as a flexible day - a short walk, maybe a quick scramble or perhaps
try some rock climbing on a roadside crag - the choice will be down
to group consensus come Saturday night (in the pub). More FREE
This Weekend adventures will be added to this page throughout
the year. All details below are written by William Legon.
The next This
Weekend will be . . . .

This Weekend commencing Friday 10th November 2006
Lake District: Sharp Edge and a Remembrance Sunday service on Great Gable.
Saturday: The book describes this one as “Lakeland’s sharpest ridge and justly popular” – a great route to take us to the top of Blencathra! This is indeed another Lake District classic and one not to miss if you’re new to this game of scrambling along mountainside. And more than that – this way we can also descend down another fine route – Halls Fell Ridge - making this a super day out. This day is not too much of an expedition so you don’t even have to be a fitness nutcase to enjoy it. Sunday: We drive around the valley to Seathwaite, from where we begin a two and a half hour walk up Great Gable. From out of the wilderness, we will be joined by hundreds of others also there to mark this important day in the calendar, with a moving, though very short (two and a half minutes) Remembrance Sunday service commencing at 11am. One and a half hours later we should be back at the road head.

And the next after that will be . . . .

This Weekend commencing Saturday 2nd December 2006
Escape to the country!
Lathkill Dale and Chrome Hill in the White Peak
There’s no beating the Peak District for straight forward walking in truly fabulous and beautiful surroundings. This weekend is ideal for those of you that want to keep it simple, and enjoy life without the adrenalin rush. Rolling countryside, fresh air and great beer: hey I’m there already!
Saturday: We’ll meet up at a leisurely 1030 before heading into the nearby hills of the beautiful White Peak. The route follows the Limestone Way until we get to Alport – when we head back along the stunning Lathkill Dale. The walk is 11 miles in distance, easy going and with only one cheeky bit that leads us up a short hill at Cales Dale. And as usual the great day ends up in a local country pub where we’ll enjoy our supper and some shandy. Sunday: You’ll enjoy a great morning trudging this ancient land crissed crossed with its Bronze Age burial mounds, and classic limestone pavement exploring the hills around Chrome Hill. Fine way to end things before heading home!

This Weekend Saturday 13th / Sunday 14th January 2007
Will's Birthday!
The Yorkshire Dales
There’s a real beauty to the Yorkshire Dales with its lower hills, rugged countryside and classic limestone scenery altogether providing a gentler feel than the big mountain areas of the UK … and so at a lower altitude they offer a great winter retreat for a weekend’s walking. Saturday: We will walk two of the Yorkshire Three Peaks - starting with Whernside followed up with the mighty Ingleborough. Usual arrangements Saturday night - good beer, great banter and hot gravy dinners! (Or Lasagne). Sunday: We’ll head into Malham for a short round of the Dales tracing a route through Malham Cove and up to Malham Tarn before heading back via a dusting of technical interest with a short scramble up the back of Gordale Scar. Now there’s a walk - who’s coming!!?

Please

may also be arranged upon demand.
