Arrives Bangkok Sunday 21st January 2007
Departs Bangkok Saturday 3rd February
If you have never been to a developing world country before this is
the place to start. In short, travel to Thailand: it's brilliant! You
will be amazed at how friendly the people are here, add to that it's
a clean and safe venue with loads to do: from the lush jungle of the
North, temples and markets galore in the capital all combined with wonderful
golden beaches to the South. This itinerary is just a snap-shot of Thailand's
beauty but a great introduction to the region and the adventures to
be had from trekking in the North to scuba diving Thailand's beautiful
clear azure blue waters.

Note: Please let us know if you
would like us to arrange additional nights in Bangkok - these will cost
around an extra £20 per person per night.
Timing
This trip is scheduled with a view to getting the best of Thailand's
weather - avoiding the oppresive mid-summer heat. Visibility should
be good, and the chance of rain low. However, bring waterproofs as advised
in the packing list, and warm clothes for the chilly evenings in the
mountains.
Equipment
The kit list specifically required for this expedition will be posted
to you in our client's expedition handbook. Largely speaking little
is required of you - a pair of lightweight walking boots, and a 2 season
sleeping bag may be the only things you need to buy prior to departure.
Level of Fitness for the Trek
Most days on trek are not overly taxing and will be taken at a gentle
pace. Exercise regularly each week to develop your cardiovascular system
and stamina. The distances we walk aren't so great, but the fitter you
are the more you will enjoy the scenery and the wildlife around us.
At weekends, go and explore some countryside, maybe take a pack and
do some camping. As a rule of thumb, if you can comfortably walk 5 miles
in the hills inside a day then you should be fine on this trip.
Roughing It
All our trips involve a degree of 'roughing it'. The accommodation we
use is comfortable but by no means ostentatious: it is selected not
only for high standards of hygiene and comfort but also on the basis
that it is a friendly and relaxing place to be. On this trip we will
accommodated in all forms of shelter from comfortable Bangkok hotels,
to bamboo huts in the hill tribe villages of Northern Thailand - and
much in between.
Price (excluding flights)
UK £970

Flights
These
should be arranged independently. For best prices we would recommend
checking prices with www.ebookers.co.uk,
www.opodo.co.uk,
www.flightcentre.com.
Price
includes
- Western leader
- Local tourist guide / translator
- All accommodation
- Bangkok sightseeing tour by boat
- Four days of diving with PADI instruction / supervision
- All food on trek and at the dive lodge
- All in-country transport and airport transfers
- All technical diving equipment
This price does not cover your meals when not on trek, such as when you
are in Bangkok, nor will it cover any individual sightseeing undertaken.
Other items not included: travel insurance, passports, visas, inoculations,
excess baggage, additional days in Thailand due to flight delays, and
items of personal nature such as drinks, souvenirs and laundry. We would
recommend bringing another $10 US per day to cover meals not provided
and snacks etc. This should easily cover it.
