Peru - Cordillera Blanca
- High Adventure in the Andes!
"I had a fantastic time, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I look back at my photos and I still can´t quite believe that I actually climbed a mountain or two!" Jenny H, 2006
Arrives Lima: 18th August 2007
Departs Lima: 1st September 2007
Here's your chance to bag two high altitude summits
within Peru's fantastic Cordillera Blanca.
As you step from the bus in Huaraz, two things will occur to you. Firstly,
there's a noticeable deficiency of oxygen in the air; secondly that
there are some corking good mountains here - the place is covered in
them! Big white peaks with the beautiful blues skies contrasting with
them. And, just because they're big doesn't mean that the likes of the
novice (with the right preparation) can't climb them! There are some
big peaks out there - totally do-able, and just waiting to be climbed
by you!

Timing
This is an August expedition with a view to getting the last of Peruvian
dry weather. Visibility should be good, and the chance of rain low. However,
bring waterproofs as advised in the packing list, and warm clothes for
the higher altitudes.
Equipment
The kit list specifically required for this expedition will be posted
on our website around July. But in the meantime consider buying some good
3 or 4 season walking boots and start wearing them in
now. We can
provide all technical kit, though a 3/4 season sleeping bag will be much
appreciated at the higher altitudes.
Level of Fitness for the Treks
You need to be fit to do this expedition. You need to have a high level
of stamina and the ability to carry on even when you are tired. Exercise
regularly each week to develop your cardiovascular system and stamina.
The distances we walk aren't so great, but climbing a 1000+ m at altitude
really takes its toll! At weekends, go and explore some countryside, maybe
take a pack and do some camping. As a rule of thumb, if you can comfortably
walk 15 miles in a day then you should be fine on this trip.
Roughing it
All our trips involve a degree of 'roughing it'. The accommodation we
use is comfortable but by no means ostentatious: it is selected not only
for high standards of hygiene and comfort but also on the basis that it
is a friendly and relaxing place to be.
Price (excluding flights) : UK £1100
Book before Christmas 2006 and get a free place on a Will4Adventure UK Winter Skills weekend course!

sightseeing, or free time activities. Other items not included: tips,
travel insurance, passports, visas, inoculations, excess baggage, and
items of personal nature such as drinks, souvenirs and laundry. We would
recommend budgeting for another $15 US per day to cover meals not provided
and snacks etc.

- All accommodation
- All in-country transport
- Fully supported trek with donkies carrying tentage and cooking utensils
