Frontier Adventure -
Outer Mongolia Horseback Trek
If you traversed this mighty country Mongolia, from East to West across
its expanse of over one and a half million square kilometers, you would
not cross one single fence or tarmacked road. It's wild, unfarmed, sparsely
populated and, amazingly beautiful. Mongolia's vast open wilderness,
clear air, and sunshine combined with the magnificent fence-free riding
experience makes for a heady adventure holiday not to be missed!
There is no destination in the world, we think you will agree, that
can parallel Mongolia for a horseback trek! Will4Adventure proudly present
Outer Mongolia by horseback!

Timing
This expedition is timed with a view to getting the best of Mongolia's
weather and culture with the Naadam festival. Visibility should be fine,
and the chance of rain low. However, bring waterproofs as advised in the
packing list, and warm clothes for the chilly evenings.
Equipment
The kit list specifically required for this expedition will be posted
to you in our client's expedition handbook. Largely speaking little is
required of you - a 3 season sleeping bag and a set of waterproofs may
be the only things you need to buy prior to departure - plus some riding
boots once you set foot in Mongolia, (which make an excellent souvenir
for taking home).
Personal Preparation
Complete beginners should not be put off trying this for an experience
though it would definitely help if you spend a little time and money on
one or two horse riding lessons. (If anything this will help you gain
some confidence around horses which is key to learning the skills for
riding and operating with them out in the field). The local wranglers
who accompany us on the trek are highly skilled and will work hard to
see that you enjoy yourself at whatever level you are presently at.
Roughing it
All our trips involve a degree of 'roughing it'. On trek, showers are
rarely available, though we always camp by the lake or by a river for
a fresh water swim! Food is basic and is a simple fare incorporating fresh
local lamb or beef. Vegetarians can be catered for - but quite honestly
if this is your diet, you should not expect any great meals - vegetables
and fruit are few and far between. The hotels we use in Ulaan
Baatar and Murun
are clean and comfortable and good places to relax, while not ostentatious.
Maximum number of places on this trip
The
number of places available on this trip are limited
to a maximum of twelve (12) people.
Flights
For best prices we would recommend checking prices with www.opodo.co.uk, www.easyjet.co.uk, www.ebookers.co.uk.
How about carbon offsetting your flight here? Climate Care allows you to offset your flight's emissions by funding sustainable energy projects. From £3 for return flights to Morocco to £47 for flights to NZ - this trip needn't cost the Earth. Thanks.

We highly recommend this excellent DVD of a 20,000-mile motorcycle trip Ewan McGregor took around the world with best friend Charley Boorman (Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round (Special Edition)). The whole film is great and the Mongolia part is interesting and very well shot.
