Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
"One of the most enjoyable courses I have been on." Ian Farrar
"This is the third time I have done a first aid course. I was worried I would find today boring but this was not the case. I also feel I might remember the content more for unconscious people due to how we built up the procedure. Many thanks." Mary Garside - Teacher
You’re the last person leaving the office and as you stroll along the corridor you see a colleague collapsed and unconscious on the floor. What do you do now?
With widespread ownership of mobile phones, ever faster ambulance response times and a reduction of heavy (machine based) industry this six hour course is all that most people will ever need. The course is designed to give you the skills to manage a casualty for those vital 10 minutes it could take before the paramedics emergency services arrive.
EFAW 6-hour programme

- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
- the importance of preventing cross infection;
- the need for recording incidents and actions;

Why choose Will4Adventure for your first aid training?
Will4Adventure is primarily an outdoors organisation taking people rock climbing, leading people on walks, treks, and expeditions to all corners of the world … and three of our team are ex-forces personnel who have had to deal with battle casualties for real whilst on operations: it’s fair to say that over the years we’ve seen a bit of first aid first hand. This means that as well as being first aid trainers, first we are first aiders – with a lot of practical experience.
We are an ITC provider, and as such you can be assured that our trainers are some of the best within the industry. Our qualifications are based upon a rigorous system of training, experience and assessment: we know what we are talking about! All our trainers have to maintain a training log, we have to engage in a minimum of CPD each year, and we have to be re-assessed as a trainer every 12 months keeping our training and assessment methods up to date and accountable.
As if that wasn’t enough … our courses are on the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework (QCF)* at level 2 - as well as being delivered by an HSE approved organisation. This means that both our training and assessment methods are annually scrutinized, internally and externally, ensuring a quality of first aid training that is probably at the cutting edge within the first aid sector. And finally, all Will4Adventure trainers and leaders are nice people, patient and supportive – hence our first aid training is well received offering fun as well as realistic courses!
(* FE institutions can apply for funding to cover these courses: Level 2 certificates are suitable for people 16 and over. As these courses are on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), reference L/500/4376, you may be eligible for Learning and Skills Council (LSC) funding to cover the whole cost of the course).
Scottish Qualification Authority Accreditation
ITC Providers deliver the ONLY Outdoor First Aid qualification that is externally regulated by national qualification regulators and meets the standards to appear on a national qualifications register. Note: these courses are valid throughout the UK.
What does this mean?
It means that when you do our Outdoor First Aid course you can walk away with two qualifications: The Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid for Outdoor Incident Management. No other provider can offer you this. (nb If you require both certificates we will charge an extra £10).
So what?
Traditionally Outdoor First Aid certificates are not recognised in the work-place (even though they are just as relevant). Now with these courses they can be – so perhaps your employer might be interested in meeting the cost of this training that you are undertaking in your own time allowing you to get first aid training free of charge!

Which Course?
For different organisations and individuals the requirements you have for first aid training will vary. The needs of a mountain leader will differ to those of an employer in a call centre. Look through the following guidelines provided by the HSE to help you prepare your risk assessment and make an informed decision as to which of our courses is right for you.
