4 GREAT mountains inside 3 GREAT Days
This will be a challenging trek that aims to bag England’s four 3000ers: Scafell Pike, Scafell, Helvelyn and Skiddaw inside one long weekend. This is an exceptionally long and arduous trek taking us through classic Lakeland scenery. Total = 55.3Km / 35 miles plus around 4000m of ascent.
Outline Plan:
Friday night meet up and go through final kit checks.
Saturday (19.1Km & 1896m in ascent) we'll head out of Seathwaite to bag our first two three thousanders - Scafell Pike and Scafell. With our first two summits under our belt we'll press on before bedding down for the night somewhere out on the hill.
Sunday (18Km & 1147m in ascent) will take us to our third of England’s 3000s – Helvelyn. This will be the first summit of the day and before we make camp we'll be bagging several Wainwrights too - finishing with Watson's Dodd and Calfhow Pike.
Monday –(18.2Km & 950m in ascent) a slightly shorter day with our walk that will go directly to the summit of Skiddaw – the last of the English 3000’s.
Fitness level:
These three days will be demanding and long. However some flexibility is afforded in the route which will allow people to skip sections if need be. This weekend will be ideal then for those of you already with some hill experience happy to be pushed a little to the next level . . .
