Will4Adventure’s mountain biking courses aim to open up the area to anyone wishing to begin mountain biking or improve their existing MTB skills. Mountain Biking – Taster Day

Ideal for beginners looking for a new experience in the outdoors – this course introduces you to the fundamentals of mountain biking. The day will incorporate a ride of a moderate distance taking in some wonderful Peak District trails.

  • Off road ride of around 10 miles
  • Looking at how to check the mechanical safety of your bike
  • Bike adjustment for most efficient riding position
  • Correct riding position for ascent and descent
  • Braking and weight distribution
  • Route reading

Navigation is a black art for most people: add to the equation speed and a bit of fast down-hill adrenalin and before you know it you’re well and truly lost. Improve your route finding and map skills on one of our bike navigation days …

  • Understand how to use map symbols and scales
  • Orienting the map to the ground
  • Know how and when to use different navigational strategies – handrails, collecting features, speed / distance / time
  • Develop an eye for contours, match major landforms like hills and valleys to their map representation

Outdoor First Aid for Mountain Bikers

Essential life saving courses for remote areas. Our two day Outdoor First Aid course is designed for outdoor professionals with a heavy emphasis on the sorts of injuries and scenarios that you as a mountain biker could face. If you spend a lot of time out on your bike the numbers game would suggest that it’s only a matter of time before you’ll need these essential skills.
