Fifty's the limit, Saturday 31st March 2012 was the date! Dear All, Here's a final note to this year's event. I have listed below some fifty mile finisher timings - as usual these may be a little out. Essentially I think you all did marvelously and as usual I am in awe of the physical and mental courage that this event brings out from the participants and the generosity of spirit from all those of you that helped us make the day work. And on that note if any of you should like to volunteer to help out next year - your offer will be warmly received! Interestingly, it was the quickest that we've ever had everyone through Youlegreave, and the lowest percentage to finish: I wonder if some of you may have burned out with a fast pace a little early in the day? I thought I'd got the route description sorted and then forgot that the tunnels on the Monsal Trail have now been opened up and so the knee level sign that used to read "no further access" has been removed - sorry Sarah and Dan who walked half way to Buxton before realising something must be awry! Finally - please find some pictures here on our Facebook page. If you have any decent shots please feel free to fire them on to me and I'll add them to the album - we should have some more finisher shots up this week too! Please feel free to like them, and to make comments on the album (all helps with the viral marketing!) Take care all - and once again, well done! For reference below are the details of this years walk. Join us next year! And in the meantime how about a Free Walking Weekend, Adventure Holiday, or more?
Will4Adventure is now planning the next Challenge4Charity in aid of the Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation: this will be an insane 50 mile sponsored walk through the Peak District National Park to be completed inside 24 hours. See photos from last year's Challenge4Charity:
Some words from previous years' walkers . . . "Two days on after saying never again, I'm already considering doing it again next year!" James Spooner "Dear Will - a great weekend - many thanks for organising it ... Please thank John for the best cup of tea I have ever drunk at Little Longstone - and an even better one at Calver. As for Philippa's pasta and flapjacks !!! Stupendous." Janet Pitt-Lewis ". . . a big thanks to you and Mrs Will and all the marshals and helpers who made this event possible.I would also especially like to personally thank the lads and lasses who looked after my son James when he was unable to continue after High Rake . . ." Wherever you stop – we’ll pick you up – how far will you go? Challenge4Charity
2012 is
a continuous sponsored walk - with no opportunities for sleeping, or
for separate team members to walk separate stages - it is purely a case
of walk
as far as your legs will take you! With regular marshals and support drivers you have the option to walk as far as you can up to the maximum of 50 miles inside 24 hours. The Route
The route is circular and will start and finish in Sheffield, via the half way point near Bakewell. While it is not hilly, it is in the Peak District - so there will be hills to walk up and down: though nothing too steep. It follows footpaths, bridleways, and byways, and some roads. It is easily navigated and pleasant to follow.
Before the event all walkers will be given a set of written instructions
to help them find their way. In addition marshals will be located along
the route to show the way. Event

LDWA Please note that this is not specifically an LDWA event - though all are welcome. Questions? Take time to train for Challenge4Charity with one of these weekends . . . And why not have a go at this Special Event for 2012 . . .
